The Joomla! Administrator Exam at JandBeyond (#JAB17) was the most international exam so far. JAB this year was located in the city of Kraków, Poland. It’s amazing to see what the actual meaning of “Joomla” (all together or as a whole) looks like in real life. Fourteen candidates from Uganda, Israel, Belarus, Poland, Germany, Estonia and Algeria completed the exam on the second day at JandBeyond and eight of them passed with great marks.

The Joomla! Certification Program is still young and growing, but it has already reached important steps. One of them has been to establish ways to make the exam accessible to as many people as possible. Therefore, in addition to having sessions at official events like JoomlaDays or JUGs, the Certification Program uses Joomla! Learning Partners, JLP’s. A JLP is an organization that provides Joomla! Certification exams and may also offer Joomla training to its clients.
To know more about them, we start this section “Meet the JLPs”, and in this case with Perfect Web Team, which hosted its first exam on May 2, 2017.

The Joomla! Community has a new reason for celebration. Actually, 100 reasons! Another great milestone has been reached by passing the 100 Certified Administrators mark. This happened in just 9 months, since the launch of the program in August 2016.

On Friday March 31, 2017, the biggest Joomla! Administrator Exam worldwide was held in The Netherlands. The Dutch JoomlaDay organization was happy to welcome 29 Joomlers at the venue in Zeist. Many happy faces left the exam room that day.

Taking to the challenge of providing a Certification Program for Joomla! every new project faces some challenges at the beginning. The main challenge was to write a set of reliable questions, well balanced, both regarding subject areas covered and in difficulty. Passing the exam proves that one has the knowledge required to be an all round Joomla! Administrator.

The second annual JoomlaDay Florida was held this past weekend in Tampa, FL at the Hillsborough Community College’s Ybor City Campus. The event expanded from one day to two, with some speakers from all walks of the Joomla! community. It was at last year’s JoomlaDay that I decided to become a Joomla! volunteer. Jason Nickerson and members of the Tampa Bay JUG, plus other Joomlers and some amazing sponsors like Hivelocity, Joomlashack, and JoomlaXTC combine to make this a fun and educational event.

As Eric Lamy wrote in our special 10 year issue: "One of the Joomla! events of 2016 will certainly be the launch of the certification program. Why? Because the stakes are huge." The certification program has now been launched, and to help us see the concept, the organization and the contents more clearly, we interviewed Marc Dechèvre.

The 9th Italian JoomlaDay was a fantastic event. Just like previous years, there were a lot of happy faces and great sessions. It's a good example of what our Community is all about: have fun, learn and connect with others. JoomlaDay Italy also hosted an exam with great results. Almost 50% of the candidates passed.

Another great milestone has been reached. On Tuesday, November 8, 2016, Marc Dechèvre passed his exam at Joomla! Learning Partner R2H. Although the exam was in The Netherlands, Marc became the first Belgian Joomla! Administrator.

On Saturday, October 15, 2016, Italian Joomlers had the opportunity to attend the first Joomla! Administrator Exam in Italy. This session has been hosted by a Joomla! Learning Partner in a data center in Pisa, where candidates used an incredibly fast internet connection (757 Mbps). Bonaventura Pizzoferro and Mattia Cattaneo became the first two Italian certified Joomla! Administrators. Supervisor Luca Marzo congratulated them on behalf of the Joomla! Certification Program.

We asked organizer Marco Mangione about this experience with the JCP as a Joomla! Learning Partner.

On Saturday September 24th, 2016 Polish Joomlers had the privilege of joining the first Joomla! exam at a European JoomlaDay. An enthusiastic team of organizers had organized a great JoomlaDay with a lot of attention to the Joomla! exams. They had the honor of hosting this historic event at Politechnika Slaska in Gliwice. 16 candidates took the Administrator Exam, including the well-known Polish community member Sławomir Pieszczek, who became the first Certified Joomla! Administrator in Poland. The Supervisor from the Netherlands congratulated “Sławo” on behalf of Joomla! Certification Program members.

Good news for future Joomla! Learning Partners (JLP's)! On July 28, 2016 we launched an improved application process to become a JLP. The Certification Operations Team (COT) has received about 60 applications so far. All information had to be screened and handled manually. That's a lot of work!

blog3At the Dutch JoomlaDays Johan van der Velde en Arjen Schrijvers gave the first Joomla! Certification Program presentation in The Netherlands. Arjen is part of the JCP team as a Team Leader of the exam team. They made all the questions for the Administrator Exam. Johan van der Velde is the Assistant Team Leader of the JCP marketing team and handles all kind of request. He also supports the other teams of the Certification Program.
